As each wish unfolds, it becomes clear he is deliberately avoiding confronting his deeper, internal dissatisfactions. The genie acts as a detached mirror to his confusion, and ultimately, the wishes fail to transform his life, serving only to reveal how deeply he is stuck inside his own feelings.
